Daggubati Venkatesh, who is also called Victory Venkatesh, is an actor and producer from India. He mostly acts in Telugu movies and has done a few Hindi films too. Venkatesh has been acting for a long time, more than 37 years. He’s famous for playing many different types of roles. He’s won many awards, including six Filmfare Awards and five Nandi Awards

Early Life:

Venkatesh was born on December 13, 1960, in Chennai, India, to a Telugu family. His father, D. Ramanaidu, was a film producer and former Member of Parliament, and his mother’s name is Rajeshwari. He has an older brother named Suresh Babu, who runs Suresh Productions, and a younger sister named Lakshmi.

Venkatesh went to Don Bosco School in Chennai for his schooling and later graduated in commerce from Loyola College, Chennai. He also earned an MBA from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, USA. When he returned to India, he initially wanted to work in film production but ended up becoming an actor instead.

Career:

Venkatesh began his acting career as a child in the 1971 film “Prema Nagar.” His first leading role came in 1986’s “Kaliyuga Pandavulu,” directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, where he starred alongside debutante Khushbu Sundar. For his performance in this film, he was honored with a Nandi Special Jury Award.

In 1996, Venkatesh played the role of an honest lawyer in the movie “Dharma Chakram,” for which he won both the Nandi Award and Filmfare Award South.

That same year, he portrayed a husband caught between two wives in the comedy drama “Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu,” directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana, which was a big hit.

In the movie “Ganesh” (1998), he depicted a person fighting against problems in the Indian public healthcare system.

The next year, he starred in the romantic action film “Preminchukundam Raa,” which was a commercial success and one of the early portrayals of factionalism in the Rayalaseema region.

His 1999 drama film “Raja,” where he played a reformed small-time thief influenced by love, was also well received by audiences.

After these successes, he solidified his position as one of the top actors in Telugu cinema.

In 2001, Venkatesh acted in the romantic comedy “Nuvvu Naaku Nachav,” which was a hit with both critics and audiences.
The success continued with “Malliswari” in 2004, his second collaboration with director K. Vijaya Bhaskar after “Nuvvu Naaku Nachav.”
In 2007, he starred in two films, “Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule” and “Tulasi,” both of which earned over ₹30 crore at the box office.
The following years, Venkatesh appeared in several films, including “Chintakayala Ravi” (2008), “Namo Venkatesa” (2010), and “Bodyguard” (2012).

In 2013, Venkatesh starred alongside Mahesh Babu in the highly praised drama “Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.” This film marked one of the first major multi-starrer Telugu films in many years.

After “Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu,” Venkatesh appeared in other multi-starrers such as “Masala” (2013), “Gopala Gopala” (2015), and “F2: Fun and Frustration” (2019). “F2” grossed over ₹127 crore and emerged as one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of the year.

Venkatesh’s performance in “Drushyam” (2014) received much acclaim from critics. In 2017, he played a strict boxing coach in Sudha Kongara’s sports drama “Guru.”

Later in 2019, he starred in “Venky Mama” alongside his nephew Naga Chaitanya. The film was profitable, grossing more than ₹72 crore worldwide. That same year, he dubbed for the Genie character in the Telugu version of “Aladdin.”

His 2021 film “Narappa” was released on Amazon Prime, marking his first direct-to-OTT release. In 2022, the sequel to “F2,” titled “F3: Fun and Frustration,” received a fairly positive reception from both critics and audiences.

Venkatesh first pan-Indian film debut with “Saindhav,” directed by Sailesh Kolanu.
